core duo 32 bit 64 bit

Core Duo: 32-bit or 64-bit ?

I just bought a Sony Vaio VGN-FE660G laptop with an Intel Core Duo processor. According the what I've read, it secretly is a 64-bit chip. So is it okay to download the 64-bit version of Vista?
Thanks!!

Get the 32 bit version of Vista. Core Duo is only 32 bit. the newer Core Processors (Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Solo) are 64 bit.

No, it is not 64-bit enabled. The next version of Core Duo (2), as Kip mentioned will be 64-bit enabled, its code named Conroe and Merom. You probably won't Merom, until around August 2006. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Joe Przedwiecki" <Joe Przedwiecki@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message
